Creating the Clear, Healthy Look You Deserve

What Causes Acne?

Acne is a skin condition that occurs when your hair follicles become congested with bacteria, resulting in the formation of whiteheads, blackheads, or pimples. Notably, acne can affect people of all ages, even into late adulthood, most commonly appearing on the face, forehead, chest, upper back, and shoulders.

Breakouts can be caused by any number of factors, including:

  • Hormones
  • Stress
  • Poor diet
  • Hereditary factors

Treating Minor Acne

Breakouts can happen with stress or hormonal changes and commonly cause the appearance of whiteheads and blackheads, bumps under the skin, or larger red pimples.

Minor acne is often best treated with a deep cleanse facial treatment regime that is specially designed to treat acne-prone skin.

If imperfections remain after the breakout has healed, then pulsed lasers can decrease redness and marks.

Ideal Solutions for Moderate To Severe Acne

Moderate acne often occurs without any specific timing, resolving slowly and requiring treatment to avoid scar formation. Nodules may form as hard, painful, inflamed bumps, and the issue can cause other skin complications such as dark spots.

A specific facial regimen combining manual extraction of the bacteria with an intense pulsed laser that treats active acne and improves dry skin will be ideal for moderate to severe acne. A skin resurfacing laser can also treat scars from previous breakouts.

Severe Cystic Acne

More severe cystic acne will require intervention for the healing process to begin. Without attention, this acne will scar, even if you avoid picking or scratching the bumps.

The first step in treating cystic acne is to remove the bacteria trapped under the skin so acne products and cleansers can start working effectively. An experienced medical professional must do this to avoid scarring and promote healing. The next steps are often geared toward reducing skin inflammation and improving hydration. Light therapy and hydration treatments will allow the skin to heal and reduce the presence of acne, at which point deep and light skin resurfacing can address scars or hyperpigmentation remaining from previous breakouts.

Resolving Acne Scars

Acne scars may come in varieties of red or brown and can also be colorless.

A combination of microneedling and laser treatments can be specifically calibrated to address any specific type of scar, giving us the ability to address just about any acne scarring that may remain. Your practitioner will treat each skin lesion individually and map out different parameters to ensure the fastest and safest results, working closely with you to ensure that you understand every step of your treatment plan.
